Practices start the week of July 15th (unless your coach tells you otherwise)

First game is Saturday Aug 17!


Ages:  4-14 (birthdays from Nov 1, 2004-Dec 31, 2014)

Registration Period:  March 1-July 1, 2019 (or until we're full so please don't wait.  We were full in May of last year.) 

Cost:  $150

Rosters:  July 8-10

Coach/Ref Clinics:  TBD

5 Week Preseason July 15-August 16 

7 Week Regular Season:  August 17-October 5 (no game on August 31-Labor Day weekend)

2 Week Playoffs (for all teams):  October 12 & 19

Photo Day:  Saturday, August 24
 
Practice days:  Weekly.  Day(s) and time(s) to be determined (you can make requests when you register).  Practices start the week of July 15.
 
Number and Length of Practices:  Min of one 60 minute practice a week.  Max of two practices a week.  Max of 90 minutes per practice.  
 
Length of Games:  Two 25 minute halves with a 3 minute half-time

Playing Time:  Every player will need to play a minimum of 50% of the game.  See FAQ below for details.

Division Start Times:  Jr Novice 830 am, Novice 940 am, Freshman 1050 amSophomore 1200 noon, JV 110 pm, Varsity 220 pm

Format:  Five on five, non-contact flag football.
 
Locations (all fields are in Mountain House): 

Fields 1 and 2 at Bethany Park (corner of Comunidad and Legacy) 

Fields 3 and 4 at Bethany School (corner of Comunidad and Heritage) 

Field 5 and 6 at Altamont Park (corner of W Piedmont Dr and N Ventura St).  Practices only.



Jerseys:  Players will receive a personalized jersey (with last name and selected number) and a pair of league shorts.
 
Equipment:  Cleats with nonmetal spikes are strongly recommended.  Footballs, flags and cones will be provided to the coaches for use during the season

Coaches:  Please contact me if you are interested in becoming a volunteer head coach (high school kids can get volunteer hours for coaching).  Assistant coaches are appointed by the head coaches.  All coaches, however, must complete the registration form and referee one game a week.

Volunteers (parents):  To continue to keep our fees low and to continue to provide concessions and videos of each game, we ask that each family provide 1-2 volunteer hours (age 13 or older) per kid in the league per season.

Frequently Asked Questions:  
1) How do I register my kid(s) to play or myself to volunteer as a coach?  See sections below.

2) How are the players (and coaches) assigned to teams?  Once we fill all or most of our spots, I take the entire list in order of birthdays and divided by 6 (the number of divisions).  Then, we make some movements based on requests and sometimes based on ability and/or size and/or experience.  We have NO set ages for divisions.

3) Will I get my requests?  We are reducing the number of requests granted this year in an attempt to keep the teams more even.

5) What will the players get?  In addition to the personalized jersey and league shorts, each player will get a participation trophy and a team photo at the end of the year.

6) When will the players get their shorts and jerseys?  Shorts will be distributed by the coach at the first practice.  These are no personalized so they can be exchanged in the first two weeks.  Jerseys have to be personalized so distribution occurs the week before the first game.  These are NOT exchangeable.  Additional shorts may be purchased for $12.  Replacement jerseys may be purchased for $25.

7) What will the coaches get?  In addition a photo plaque at the end of the season, the head coach will get a free team polo at the beginning of the season.  Assistant coaches may buy the team polo for $25.

8) What is the 50% rule?  All non-injured players must play at least 50% of the game (unless there is a special commissioner exemption).  Coaches will need to complete a roster card this year at the beginning of each half.

50% rule in detail
a) If you have 10 players (we'll name them 1-10), it's pretty straight forward.
You have 3 options:

i) 1-5 play on offensive side the entire game and 6-10 play on the defensive side the entire game
ii) 1-5 play on offensive side during the 1st half but defensive side during the 2nd half.  6-10 opposite
iii) 1-5 play on offensive side during the 1st half but in the 2nd half some of them (3, 4 and 5 for example) go on defense and some (1 and 2 in this example) stay on offense.  6, 7 and 8 come to offense but 9 and 10 stay on defense.

No switching is allowed during a half if you have 10 healthy players.

b) If you have 9 or 8 or 7 or 6 players
You need to put 5 players on offense or defense (1-5)
The remaining players (6, 7, 8 and 9) play on the other side.
You must rotate through the first 5 players
For example, if 1-5 are on offense, for the 1st defensive series, 1 plus 6-9 are on defense
The next defensive series, 1 cannot play again.  You have to use 2.  The next series, you have to use 3 and so on.

If you have 8 or more players, no player can more than 3 series in a row.

9) Can you challenge a referee call?  Only coaches can challenge a rule mistake but not judgement calls (tackling, holding, pass interference, etc).  If the referee does not correct the mistake, the coach can contact the administrator on the field.

10) Where can I find lost items?  We collect a lot of lost and found items each year and put it next to the shed on fields 1 & 2.  Please put your kid's name on water bottles, sweatshirts, etc.

11)  How can we help raise money for the league?  
-League T-shirts (football and cheer) are on sale for $12 each.  Hoodies are on sale for $25 each.  Red MHFF caps are on sale for $10 each.  All proceeds go back to the league to reduce the cost of registration fees for the kids.  Please send me an e-mail if you would like to buy something.

12) What is Spirit Day?  We ask (not required though) the players and cheerleaders to wear their jerseys and uniforms to school on fridays during the season to show their team spirit.

1) What days can you absolutely NOT practice? (For example, we cannot practice on Wednesdays due to ....)
2) What times can you absolutely NOT practice?  (For example, I cannot get my son to practice before 5 pm)
3) Sibling request-You may request to have siblings on the same team but this year we will not move kids out of the division they belong (based on birthdays).
4) Friend request-You may request to have your kid play on the same team as a friend (rank friends if he/she has more than one request) but do NOT expect this to be granted.
5) No more coach requests (to keep the teams more balanced)

If you cannot play because you didn't get all your requests, you will NOT get a refund.

TO VOLUNTEER AS A COACH OR REFEREE

1  HAVE FUN!!
2  No bad behavior-you and your kid(s) may be suspended by the league administrator for one or more games (no refund) and asked to leave the field for bad behavior (fighting, hitting, kicking, biting, pushing, tackling, bullying, swearing, negative comments, etc.)

Accidental Waiver and Release of Liability (AWRL)

I acknowledge that flag football and cheer leading is an extreme test of a person’s physical and mental limits and that participation in a flag football and cheer leading event carries with it the potential for death, serious injury, disability and property loss/damage.  The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of participants, equipment, vehicular traffic, actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants and spectators.  I certify that I am physically fit to participate in these events and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person.  I consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during these events and to allow photos and videos to be taken and posted on the league websites and related sites.  With full understanding of the potential risks, I assume all of the risks of participating in any way in these events. 

I hereby take action for myself, my executors, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows:

(A) I WAIVE, RELEASE AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability for my death, serious injury, disability and property loss/damage except that which is the result of gross negligence and/or wanton misconduct of persons or entities listed below: MOUNTAIN HOUSE FLAG FOOTBALL, INC., MOUNTAIN HOUSE COMMUNITY SERVICES DISTRICT, LAMMERSVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, agents and other participants and spectators;

(B) I AGREE NOT TO SUE any of entities or persons listed above for any of the claims or liabilities that I have waived, released or discharged herein; and

(C) I INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS the entities or persons mentioned above from any and all liabilities or claims made by myself, other individuals or entities as a result of any of my actions.

I acknowledge that this AWRL form will be used by the event organizers, in which I may participate, and that it will govern my actions and responsibilities at said events.  This AWRL shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.  This AWRL shall apply to each and every time I participate in these events.

If participant is less than 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must execute the foregoing AWRL for and on behalf of the minor named herein.

I, the parent or legal guardian of the participant, will execute the foregoing AWRL for and on behalf of the minor named herein.  I represent that I have legal capacity and authority to act for and on behalf of the minor named herein.  I have also read and understand the AWRL and have reviewed them with the minor named herein.  I hereby bind myself, the minor named herein and all other assigns to the terms of the AWRL.  I fully consent to his/her participation in these events.
